Coríntios 8

NOW as to things that have been sacrificed to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.

If any one think; that he knows anything, he does not yet know as he ought to know.

If any one loves God, he is known by him.

Regarding the eating of things that have been sacrificed to idols, then, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no God but one.

And though there are so-called gods in heaven and on earth, for there are gods many and lords many,

still to us there is one God the Father, of whom are all things and we for him, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and we through him.

But all have not this knowledge. Some, having been accustomed to idols up to the present time, eat the food as a sacrifice to an idol, and their conscience being weak is stained.

But food does not bring us near to God, for neither do we lose by not eating nor gain by eating.

But be careful that this power of yours may not become a stumbling block to the weak.

For if any one sees you who have knowledge reclining at table in an idol's temple, will not the conscience of that weak one be emboldened to eat things that have been sacrificed to idols?

Thus the weak man is ruined by your knowledge '97 the brother for whom Christ died.

So sinning against the brethren and wounding their weak consciences you sin against Christ.

Therefore if food makes my brother stumble I will not eat meat while the world stands, for fear of making my brother stumble.
